Recently audiovisual copies are of the most demanded by the library users. The music is certainly another country's cultural expression, and in his day and I speak of Fados, very important for the Foundation, but we also have in the Library with other types of Portuguese music. In particular today I want to talk about Julio Pereira, representative of traditional Portuguese music.
Julio Pereira is Composer, Producer and Multi-instrumentalist who has 20 disks author. Learn to play the mandolin at 7 years of her father's hand. Through age 20 is part of several rock bands and recorded several albums with Xarhanga and Petrus Castrus .
Between 20 and 30 years participating in numerous concerts and albums with the most important composers of Portugal (with to discover the traditional music of his country), highlighting its collaboration with José Afonso who regularly works with playing at various venues in the world, producing his last two albums.
In 1981 he released the album Cavaquinho (português traditional instrument), an all instrumental, the product of a lengthy investigation, which opened many doors for Portuguese music. He won all the prizes in his country's music thus beginning his career as a soloist. Has
concert tours the world, produces albums for other authors and collaborates with several renowned names in music including are: Uxia , Kepa Junquera , Pete Seeger , Mestisay , The Chieftains - with whom he recorded the CD Santiago to win a Grammy Award for best folk album of 1997 .
In 2007 he took part in the film Fados Carlos Saura of , working with Carlos do Carmo and Chico Buarque .
His latest album is released in 2010 which decided to make an album of songs - Graffiti. Invites Tiago Torres da Silva to make the lyrics, Tiago Taron to illustrate the range of issues and ten singers and Portugal recognized other countries including: Dulce Pontes, Maria João , Sara Tavares , Olga Cerpa (Spain), Nancy Vieira (Cape Verde), Luanda Cozetti (Brazil), etc. , with which just won a prize of best album of the year .
